Brand Snapshot
Layla got its start in 2016 and has considering that progressed into one of the most popular bed linen locations on the marketplace. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand name also offers a hybrid mattress, two pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, accessories, and more!

We won’t be getting into all these products in this evaluation, we will take a little time later on to size up the all-foam Layla against its hybrid equivalent. We’ll also compare the Initial Layla to a few of its stiffest competition, specifically the Nectar and Casper bed mattress. Layla Used Mattress.

However before we enter into any of that, let’s turn our attention back to the Layla!

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up leading, the Layla is a flippable mattress that features both a “Firm” and “Soft” side. Despite how you orient the bed, both sides include top and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior sections of poly foam. For the purpose of this review, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll describe both setups below.

So, how exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive below the cover to discover.

Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester mix. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s relaxing and plush.

Convenience – With the “Soft” side turned up, the comfort layer is comprised of a 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam. This product has a sluggish reaction to pressure, so supplies the sleeper with a lot of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a small reputation for getting too hot, the foam here has been infused with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a substantially thick layer of memory foam, so I can already inform that the “Soft” side could be fantastic for side sleepers (more on that later on!).

Transition – Up next, you’ll land on a transitional layer of poly foam. This material is much firmer than the one above it, helping to curb the memory foam’s deep sink and shift the sleeper into the firmer base products listed below. Layla Used Mattress.

Assistance – And just what are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super strong and stable, this material offers the mattress with most of its fundamental assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer basically works as the base. When the bed is configured to the “Firm” side, this section becomes a firm transitional layer that provides assistance to the lower back and hips.

Base–  Last but not least, we arrive on the second and final layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s just an inch tall, so you can’t actually feel it when the bed is in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to turn it, though, this would become the convenience layer. It would not supply almost as much pressure relief as the 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam we have actually already seen, but could return and combination sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we have actually got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s enter how it feels, starting with firmness. Layla Used Mattress.

As with any feel factor, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending on one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness might vary from your own. For referral, I have to do with 5′ 10″, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.

Given that the Layla is flippable, I decided to provide it 2 firmness rankings. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I arrived on a 7.5/ 10. To offer these ratings some context, the industry standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to say that these rankings are a bit severe.

” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft configuration, I could feel my body sinking into the luxurious leading layer of copper-infused memory foam. The product contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, supplying me with that timeless memory foam “hug.” I believe this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.

” Company” side: On the “Company” side, it was quite another story completely. By switching out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed all of a sudden ends up being super encouraging. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which produces a sturdily “on top” of the bed type vibe. I believe this feel could work best for back sleepers in need of firm support at the hips and lumbar region.

Testing the Layla Mattress
Firmness is important, however it’s just one piece of the feel puzzle. To get back at more particular about this bed’s overall ambiance, I’m now going to test it for 2 other factors: Pressure Relief and Movement Transfer.

Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to a bed’s ability to relieve stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This measure will be important for all sleepers, but especially so for those who fight with joint discomfort. To assist you imagine how precisely the Layla eases pressure, I’ll be testing it out with a pressure map.

Basically, it works like this: I present the gadget, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records just how much force I’m putting in on the mattress, producing a colored “map” of the pressure. For reference, blue indicates areas of low pressure and red shows locations of high pressure. Layla Used Mattress.

Back
As I pointed out above, the “Firm” side was the most comfy for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spinal column in a nice, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I discovered that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfortable.

Side
When I turned onto my side, I felt a lots of fantastic pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick top layer of memory foam cradled my shoulders and offered me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Firm” configuration didn’t provide me with nearly as much pressure relief, so may not be the best orientation for stringent side sleepers.

Stomach
Despite whether I had the Layla set up to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I wouldn’t say this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to choose solidly firm mattresses that lift the sleeper completely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Used Mattress.

Motion Transfer

Let’s wrap up this area with a look at movement transfer, which describes the quantity of movement noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to take notice of this feel element, though it will most likely be most appropriate for those who share their bed with a partner.

To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and determined the disturbance it triggered: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

These are fantastic motion transfer results, which informs me that you should not be too troubled by your bed mate’s motions in the night. The star here is the thick top layer of memory foam, which works to take in movement and move it equally across the surface of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you pick whether you want firm support or softer convenience. Side sleepers will most likely prefer the soft side, while back sleepers can select whichever fits their preference. Layla Used Mattress.

Layla Pros:
If you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed features a lot of the product, so exemplifies its characteristic sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are worried, I believe side sleepers will prefer the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will most likely be much better off on the “Firm” side.
I ‘d likewise state that this bed has really low motion transfer, which marks it as a solid option for couples. Layla Used Mattress.

Layla Cons:
If you’re looking for a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the costs. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which results in more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d also say that the mattress isn’t supportive sufficient to strengthen heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will want something with a bit more raise to make sure that they’re placed on top of the structure.

Summary:
Layla features an all-foam, flippable design with various firmness levels on each side. This permits sleepers to experience a various feel merely by turning the mattress over. Layla’s comfort layers integrate memory foam for substantial pressure relief, and in our screening we also found the mattress to sleep really cool. Layla Used Mattress.
