Brand name Summary
Layla got its start in 2016 and has considering that progressed into one of the most popular bed linen destinations on the market. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand name also sells a hybrid mattress, 2 pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, devices, and more!

We won’t be getting into all these items in this evaluation, we will take a little time later on to size up the all-foam Layla against its hybrid counterpart. We’ll likewise compare the Original Layla to some of its stiffest competitors, namely the Nectar and Casper mattresses. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

But prior to we enter into any of that, let’s turn our attention back to the Layla!

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up leading, the Layla is a flippable mattress that includes both a “Firm” and “Soft” side. Regardless of how you orient the bed, both sides include leading and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior areas of poly foam. For the function of this evaluation, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll describe both setups listed below.

How precisely does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive below the cover to find out.

Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester blend. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s cozy and plush.

Convenience – With the “Soft” side turned up, the comfort layer is made up of a 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam. This material has a sluggish response to pressure, so supplies the sleeper with plenty of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a minor credibility for getting too hot, the foam here has been infused with cooling copper to keep the temperatures low. This is a substantially thick layer of memory foam, so I can already tell that the “Soft” side could be terrific for side sleepers (more on that later on!).

Transition – Up next, you’ll land on a transitional layer of poly foam. This material is much firmer than the one above it, helping to suppress the memory foam’s deep sink and transition the sleeper into the firmer base products listed below. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Support – And just what are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super strong and stable, this product offers the mattress with most of its fundamental assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer essentially operates as the base. When the bed is set up to the “Firm” side, this area becomes a firm transitional layer that provides assistance to the lower back and hips.

Base–  Lastly, we land on the second and final layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s just an inch high, so you can’t really feel it when the bed remains in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to turn it, though, this would end up being the comfort layer. It wouldn’t provide nearly as much pressure relief as the 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam we’ve currently seen, but might give back and combination sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we have actually got a strong sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s get into how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Just like any feel element, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending upon one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness might differ from your own. For recommendation, I’m about 5′ 10″, 190 pounds. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.

Because the Layla is flippable, I decided to give it 2 firmness scores. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I landed on a 7.5/ 10. To give these scores some context, the industry standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to state that these scores are a bit severe.

” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I could feel my body sinking into the luxurious leading layer of copper-infused memory foam. The material contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, offering me with that classic memory foam “hug.” I believe this feel would most likely work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.

” Firm” side: On the “Firm” side, it was rather another story altogether. By switching out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed unexpectedly becomes extremely encouraging. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which creates a solidly “on top” of the bed type vibe. I think this feel could work best for back sleepers in need of firm assistance at the hips and lumbar region.

Checking the Layla Mattress
Firmness is essential, but it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get even more specific about this bed’s general ambiance, I’m now going to check it for 2 other aspects: Pressure Relief and Movement Transfer.

Pressure Relief
Pressure relief describes a bed’s capability to minimize tension at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This step will be important for all sleepers, but particularly so for those who struggle with joint discomfort. To help you picture how exactly the Layla relieves pressure, I’ll be checking it out with a pressure map.

Generally, it works like this: I present the gadget, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records how much force I’m exerting on the mattress, developing a colored “map” of the pressure. For recommendation, blue suggests locations of low pressure and red indicates areas of high pressure. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Back
As I mentioned above, the “Firm” side was the most comfy for back sleeping, in my opinion. It set my spinal column in a good, neutral line by keeping my hips lifted in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I found that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfortable.

Side
When I turned onto my side, I felt a ton of wonderful pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick leading layer of memory foam cradled my shoulders and offered me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Firm” configuration didn’t offer me with almost as much pressure relief, so may not be the very best orientation for stringent side sleepers.

Stomach
Regardless of whether I had the Layla set up to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I would not say this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Rigorous stomach sleepers tend to prefer sturdily firm mattresses that lift the sleeper completely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Movement Transfer

Let’s wrap up this section with a take a look at motion transfer, which refers to the amount of motion noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to pay attention to this feel aspect, though it will most likely be most relevant for those who share their bed with a partner.

To highlight this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disruption it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.

These are great motion transfer results, which tells me that you shouldn’t be too troubled by your bed mate’s movements in the night. The star here is the thick leading layer of memory foam, which works to absorb motion and move it uniformly across the surface of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you choose whether you desire firm support or softer convenience. Side sleepers will most likely choose the soft side, while back sleepers can select whichever fits their choice. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Layla Pros:
If you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed includes a lot of the material, so represents its characteristic sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are worried, I think side sleepers will prefer the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will most likely be much better off on the “Firm” side.
I ‘d also state that this bed has truly low motion transfer, which marks it as a solid choice for couples. Layla Mattress Unboxing.

Layla Cons:
If you’re looking for a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the bill. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d also say that the mattress isn’t supportive enough to boost heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will want something with a bit more lift to guarantee that they’re positioned on top of the structure.

Summary:
Layla includes an all-foam, flippable style with different firmness levels on each side. This allows sleepers to experience a different feel just by turning the mattress over. Layla’s comfort layers integrate memory foam for considerable pressure relief, and in our testing we likewise found the mattress to sleep very cool. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
