Layla Mattress Review
Layla got its start in 2016 and has since progressed into one of the most popular bed linen destinations on the marketplace. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand name also offers a hybrid mattress, two pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, devices, and more!
We won’t be getting into all these items in this evaluation, we will take a little time later on to size up the all-foam Layla versus its hybrid counterpart. We’ll likewise compare the Original Layla to a few of its stiffest competitors, namely the Nectar and Casper bed mattress. Layla Mattress Review.
However before we enter any of that, let’s turn our attention back to the Layla!

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up top, the Layla is a flippable mattress that includes both a “Company” and “Soft” side. Despite how you orient the bed, both sides feature leading and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior areas of poly foam. For the function of this evaluation, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll explain both configurations below.
How exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive beneath the cover to find out.
Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester mix. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s relaxing and plush.
Convenience – With the “Soft” side turned up, the comfort layer is comprised of a 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam. This product has a sluggish reaction to pressure, so offers the sleeper with plenty of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a minor credibility for getting too hot, the foam here has been infused with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a substantially thick layer of memory foam, so I can currently inform that the “Soft” side could be great for side sleepers (more on that later!).
Shift – Up next, you’ll land on a transitional layer of poly foam. This product is much firmer than the one above it, assisting to curb the memory foam’s deep sink and shift the sleeper into the firmer base materials listed below. Layla Mattress Review.
Assistance – And exactly what are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and stable, this product provides the mattress with most of its fundamental support. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer basically operates as the base. However, when the bed is configured to the “Company” side, this area becomes a firm transitional layer that supplies assistance to the lower back and hips.
Base– Lastly, we land on the 2nd and last layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s only an inch high, so you can’t truly feel it when the bed is in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to flip it, though, this would become the convenience layer. It wouldn’t supply almost as much pressure relief as the 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam we’ve already seen, but might return and combo sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we’ve got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s enter how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Mattress Review.
Just like any feel factor, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending upon one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness could vary from your own. For reference, I’m about 5′ 10″, 190 pounds. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
Since the Layla is flippable, I chose to provide it 2 firmness ratings. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Firm” side, I arrived on a 7.5/ 10. To offer these scores some context, the market requirement for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to state that these ratings are a bit extreme.
” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I might feel my body sinking into the plush top layer of copper-infused memory foam. The product contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, supplying me with that classic memory foam “hug.” I believe this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.
” Company” side: On the “Company” side, it was rather another story completely. By swapping out a 3″ top layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed unexpectedly becomes super encouraging. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which develops a solidly “on top” of the bed type ambiance. I think this feel could work best for back sleepers in need of firm support at the hips and lumbar region.

Testing the Layla Mattress
Firmness is very important, but it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get back at more specific about this bed’s general vibe, I’m now going to evaluate it for 2 other elements: Pressure Relief and Motion Transfer.
Pressure relief refers to a bed’s capability to relieve stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This measure will be valuable for all sleepers, but particularly so for those who deal with joint discomfort. To help you imagine how exactly the Layla alleviates pressure, I’ll be testing it out with a pressure map.
Essentially, it works like this: I present the gadget, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records how much force I’m exerting on the mattress, developing a colored “map” of the pressure. For referral, blue suggests areas of low pressure and red shows locations of high pressure. Layla Mattress Review.
As I discussed above, the “Company” side was the most comfy for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spinal column in a great, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I discovered that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfy.
When I turned onto my side, I felt a ton of fantastic pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick leading layer of memory foam nestled my shoulders and supplied me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Company” setup didn’t supply me with almost as much pressure relief, so might not be the best orientation for rigorous side sleepers.
No matter whether I had the Layla configured to the “Soft” or “Company” side, I wouldn’t state this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Rigorous stomach sleepers tend to choose sturdily firm mattresses that raise the sleeper totally on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Mattress Review.
Let’s wrap up this section with a take a look at motion transfer, which refers to the amount of motion noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will wish to take note of this feel factor, though it will probably be most appropriate for those who share their bed with a partner.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it triggered: the bigger the lines, the larger the disruption.
These are great motion transfer results, which tells me that you should not be too bothered by your bed mate’s motions in the night. The star here is the thick top layer of memory foam, which works to soak up motion and transfer it equally across the surface area of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you select whether you want firm support or softer convenience. Side sleepers will most likely choose the soft side, while back sleepers can select whichever fits their preference. Layla Mattress Review.
Most importantly, if you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed includes a great deal of the material, so represents its particular sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are worried, I think side sleepers will choose the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will probably be better off on the “Company” side.
I ‘d likewise state that this bed has really low motion transfer, which marks it as a strong option for couples. Layla Mattress Review.
If you’re trying to find a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the expense. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type vibe.
I ‘d also state that the mattress isn’t supportive enough to bolster heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will desire something with a bit more raise to guarantee that they’re placed on top of the structure.
Layla includes an all-foam, flippable design with various firmness levels on each side. This permits sleepers to experience a different feel merely by turning the mattress over. Layla’s comfort layers integrate memory foam for substantial pressure relief, and in our testing we also found the mattress to sleep extremely cool. Layla Mattress Review.
