Brand name short story
Layla got its start in 2016 and has considering that blossomed into one of the most popular bedding destinations on the marketplace. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand likewise sells a hybrid mattress, two pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, accessories, and more!
Though we won’t be entering all these products in this evaluation, we will take a little time later on to measure the all-foam Layla against its hybrid equivalent. We’ll also compare the Original Layla to a few of its stiffest competitors, particularly the Nectar and Casper bed mattress. Layla Mattress Revews.

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I mentioned up leading, the Layla is a flippable mattress that includes both a “Company” and “Soft” side. Regardless of how you orient the bed, both sides feature top and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior areas of poly foam. For the purpose of this evaluation, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll describe both setups listed below.
So, how exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive below the cover to learn.
Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester mix. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s cozy and luxurious.
Convenience – With the “Soft” side turned up, the convenience layer is comprised of a 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam. This material has a sluggish reaction to pressure, so provides the sleeper with lots of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a small credibility for overheating, the foam here has actually been instilled with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a considerably thick layer of memory foam, so I can already tell that the “Soft” side could be excellent for side sleepers (more on that later!).
Transition – Up next, you’ll land on a transitional layer of poly foam. This product is much firmer than the one above it, helping to suppress the memory foam’s deep sink and shift the sleeper into the firmer base materials below. Layla Mattress Revews.
Support – And what exactly are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and stable, this material provides the mattress with most of its foundational assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer basically operates as the base. However, when the bed is configured to the “Firm” side, this section becomes a firm transitional layer that supplies assistance to the lower back and hips.
Base– Lastly, we land on the 2nd and final layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s only an inch high, so you can’t really feel it when the bed remains in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to turn it, though, this would become the convenience layer. It would not offer almost as much pressure relief as the 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam we’ve already seen, but could return and combination sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we have actually got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s enter how it feels, starting with firmness. Layla Mattress Revews.
Similar to any feel aspect, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending upon one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness could differ from your own. For reference, I’m about 5′ 10″, 190 pounds. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
Since the Layla is flippable, I decided to provide it 2 firmness ratings. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Firm” side, I arrived at a 7.5/ 10. To provide these ratings some context, the market requirement for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to say that these ratings are a bit extreme.
” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I could feel my body sinking into the plush top layer of copper-infused memory foam. The product contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, supplying me with that timeless memory foam “hug.” I believe this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.
” Company” side: On the “Firm” side, it was quite another story completely. By swapping out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed all of a sudden becomes very helpful. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which develops a sturdily “on the top” of the bed type vibe. I think this feel might work best for back sleepers in need of firm support at the hips and lumbar region.

Evaluating the Layla Mattress
Firmness is necessary, but it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get back at more specific about this bed’s overall ambiance, I’m now going to test it for 2 other aspects: Pressure Relief and Movement Transfer.
Pressure relief describes a bed’s capability to alleviate stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This measure will be valuable for all sleepers, but especially so for those who struggle with joint discomfort. To assist you visualize how exactly the Layla alleviates pressure, I’ll be checking it out with a pressure map.
Essentially, it works like this: I roll out the device, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records how much force I’m putting in on the mattress, producing a colored “map” of the pressure. For referral, blue shows areas of low pressure and red indicates locations of high pressure. Layla Mattress Revews.
As I mentioned above, the “Firm” side was the most comfy for back sleeping, in my opinion. It set my spine in a good, neutral line by keeping my hips lifted in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I found that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfy.
When I turned onto my side, I felt a lots of fantastic pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick leading layer of memory foam cradled my shoulders and supplied me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Firm” configuration didn’t provide me with nearly as much pressure relief, so might not be the best orientation for rigorous side sleepers.
Regardless of whether I had the Layla configured to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I wouldn’t state this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to prefer sturdily firm mattresses that raise the sleeper totally on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Mattress Revews.
Let’s wrap up this section with a look at motion transfer, which refers to the amount of movement detectable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to take note of this feel aspect, though it will probably be most relevant for those who share their bed with a partner.
To show this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disruption it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These are great movement transfer results, which tells me that you should not be too bothered by your bed mate’s motions in the night. The star here is the thick leading layer of memory foam, which works to take in motion and move it uniformly throughout the surface area of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you pick whether you desire firm assistance or softer comfort. Side sleepers will most likely choose the soft side, while back sleepers can pick whichever fits their preference. Layla Mattress Revews.
If you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed features a great deal of the material, so characterizes its characteristic sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are worried, I think side sleepers will choose the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will most likely be much better off on the “Company” side.
I ‘d likewise state that this bed has really low movement transfer, which marks it as a strong choice for couples. Layla Mattress Revews.
If you’re searching for a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the costs. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d likewise say that the mattress isn’t supportive adequate to reinforce heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will desire something with a bit more raise to guarantee that they’re positioned on top of the structure.
Layla features an all-foam, flippable style with various firmness levels on each side. This permits sleepers to experience a various feel merely by turning the mattress over. Layla’s convenience layers include memory foam for considerable pressure relief, and in our screening we also found the mattress to sleep very cool. Layla Mattress Revews.
